Thanks for yor response--I tried all methods to access to no avail but have just tried a system restore and it has worked--I would love to know where the editor disappeared to though.

Sorry for delay in replying--I am reading from a "magic lantern guide " to this camera which declares--"in Auto mode the image quality is compressed 1 :8 using the jpeg standard.
