Histograms
 

Hi Chris G, Rod, Chris R, Angela and Company,

I'm reading the latest issue of NPhoto Magazine with focus on your Nikopedia article on histograms. I know that photos displayed on the screen of our DSLR's are 8bit JPG files with tonal numerical ranges from 0 to 255 (2^8). What happens though when I'm looking at a D800 14bit NEF Raw file in Lightroom? Am I still looking at a tonal range of 256 or am I looking at the full tonal range of 16,384 (2^14)? Thanks again for another great issue.
