Travel photography advice

I am travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia soon and am taking my Canon 600D with me but I do not know which of my lenses to take with me!!

in my kit I have:

Canon EFS 18-55mm
Canon EF 50mm
Tamron AF 70-300

any advice would greatly help!!

If I could only take one of these lenses I would probably go for the 18-55 , I would want the 18mm end to capture the wonderful landscapes you're going to see . Ideally a good all rounder lens like an 18-200mm would give you the best of all worlds .

personally I would take the 18-55 and make room for the 70-300. I would recommend taking your camera gear in your carry on luggage ( assuming your flying ) to reduce the chances of smashed glass. the 18-55 would be great for the landscapes and the general walkabout, but if i saw some great wildlife or distant objects that would make great shots, i would be kicking myself if i owned a tele and had left it behind.

If space is limited to one lens, it would have to be the 18-55, its the most practical of your lenses for varying circumstances.

Hello kitkat. I would bring all three lenses if I were you, and a spare body if you have one :) Before going to Vietnam and Cambodia, research everything that you can, and once you arrive, you can ask the tourist assistance desk about places where you can take good photographs and ask if a tour guide could take you there. I wrote an article all about travel photography here in my blog and I think it will help you a lot. http://shootdigitalpicslikethepros.com/blog/photography-forum-support

I've been to both these beautiful countries and the one thing i wish i'd brought with me was a good portrait lens! the local people make for amazing portraits! whatever you do, don't leave your 50mm at home! it weighs next to nothing so you could sacrifice carrying one sock in order to take that with you.
Have you an itinery of where you are going in these countries? I love it out there!
I had a 75-300 lens with me and found that i used that the least!

I've travelled with 3 lenses, (wide angle 24, portrait 55, tele-zoom 80-220) and captured 80% of the pictures with the portrait lens.
I've also traveled with just the 55. I wasn't broken hearted about missed opportunities.

Moisture - rain and condensation - were my worst enemies. I understand a zip lock bag protects the camera while it is warming or cooling when going from hot to cold, and cold to hot enviroments. I'll have to try it on my next trip.
