Lens Advice
Hi DCW Members,
I'm after some lens advice, and would be grateful of tapping into your photography knowledge. I currently use a Sony A65 (APS-C) camera with a SAL-70400G (70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM) telephoto zoom lens. I'm very happy with this setup, but would like to upgrade to primes. I recently acquired a Sony Zeiss 135mm F1.8 ZA Sonnar T* lens, and couldn't believe how much better this glass was in terms of photo quality, so now I'm thinking of primes for airshows and nature. I'm torn between the Sigma 300mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM (with 1.4X EX teleconverter or 2.0 teleconverter to get me the "reach") or the Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX DG HSM. Have any of you had any experiences of using these lenses ? (doesn't have to be on a Sony) Good points/ bad points ? Thanks in advance Paul |
I have yet to try a converter which satisfied me. Ed.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to reply Edmack.

I agree with Ed. Not that impressed by converters. In fact, mines not been put of the bag for ages.
They do serve a purpose I suppose, but they are only good to a point. Not used any of those lenses so can't help there I'm afraid. |
Thanks for the advice jediboy
