Which photo package?
Hi all, just looking for some input on which package to go for, Serif Photoplus X6 or one of the adobe range, money not to much of a problem, however I don`t want to spend on things I will not require. I am a keen amateur looking to improve. I have an EOS 350D with various lenses and a Speedlite flash. Thanks and if you want more info let me know, Darryl

Photoshop elements is a good package, most magazine articles cover that package also having used the Serif products Elements is more stable and faster!

edit programes
Did your camera come with software disc? I find that Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Professional) which came with my 7D versatile, and I had to use it because the Elements program I had at that time would not recognise Canon Raw. Although I upgraded Elements, I now find I use DPP more when processing Canon Raw. There is a difference in the way Adobe treats Raw and it comes down to 'beauty in the eye of the beholder'!
Have fun:) |
probably the best package is photoshop elements any version from 9 onwards as thats where they had layer masks put in

Lightroom 4.3 and elements 11 should do everything you need

I have both elements 9 and Lightroom. Also DPP . However I find Photoshops elements very versatile and easy to use. It also does 'non destructive' editing which would be the same as lightroom and DPP. For the non professional I find photoshop has more tools than I would ever need.
I downloaded a free copy of photoshop, CS2, from Adobe website. You may find that you can still do this. It takes a while http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html Download the 6 items then execute each of the 'discs' |
