Strobist - Off Camera!
Jargon in a flash.
December issue P.29 Jargon in a flash Strobist - A Catch all term for any technique where flash is combined creatively with ambient lighting. This is wrong. Strobist is the technique of using flash "Off-Camera" Its as simple as that. Whether or not you blend the ambient with the flash is irrelevant. |
I just did a search and cannot find a clear definition of strobist either way,

Strobist is a registered trademark, according to the little R in a circle on David Hobby's blog It's all about small flashguns used off camera, with or without ambient light.
I think David Hobby is THE Strobist; others who call themselves Strobists merely follow his doctrine. Or something like that. :) Chris |
