Hi Chris, I wanted to try something different when I went out so I just took my 24mm wide lens. The top 2 were what I was after I wanted the focus in the middle with the rest dropped out the bottom on I just like a lot :) I like the first 2 even though there's not a lot of interest really in the first. I just wondered if they worked for others

the third is quite nice, not sure about the other two - don't know what it is, but they just don't do it for me (sorry). i prefer the first to the second though, opposite to yourself!

Thank you Alex, I like them all but im not sure if its just because I took them and there a little different. The third is my Favorite but the first 2 are what I wanted to do so im happy but I know it wont work for everybody

Hi Mark ,

I like the idea behind the first shot but I can't help thinking that it might work better with a slightly deeper DOF and shot in portrait format so it pulled your eye in and up the image .
The second shot works well with the low view point but as the log leads the eye out of the shot it might work better with a slight change of composition but I do like the subject matter and the different textures of the moss , the log and the leaf litter .
Not too keen on the third as I feel there is just too much clutter and distractions .

As always these are just my personal preferences .

Thank you Mark, Should I have cropped the third a little to get rid of the clutter ?
I always look forward to you personal preferences because you make me think next time im out :)
Should I have

Mark
You should only do things if you feel it works for you , my taste might be different to yours but thankyou very much for taking my comments in the manner they were given .

To be perfectly honest I think there's too much clutter to crop out but next time on a shot like that take a couple of minutes to really look round the area and a test shot to see if there is anything that can be tidied up to improve the image .

I know it sounds easy but I find it very difficult to spot these distractions until I get the image on my computer screen so you really need to make a big effort to look for problems .

i think its great to try something different but heres my take
1 like the idea but as you look at it your eyes are drawn all over the shot. IMHO i have looked at the original and it is good enough to tight crop it on the in focus twig and it still shows the narrow dof
2 get rid of the blown high lights
3 crop out the sky

Thank you Wave, after reading all the comments I'm thinking I should have done this
