Remote trigger for Nikon D3100
Hi everyone,
I have recently bought a Nikon D3100 as my first digital SLR, and am looking for some new equipment. I've been looking at a few remote triggers (remote, rather than calbed/wired), but there are so many that are and aren't compatible with my D3100, so if if anyone could give me some pointers into a good and again not overly expensive remote trigger, that would be great. Any tips/suggestions/reviews/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Pete |
Sorry Pete , just had a quick google for a wireless remote and it doesn't look like there is one for the 3100 unlike the 3000 .
The only wireless I saw was a youtube clip about someone who had bought a third party remote and it didn't work , what type of work are you planing to do with a wireless that you can't do with a cord remote or the self timer ? Mark |
I'd like to do some self portraits that are also composites, and also go wandering off from the camera, so the self timer means coming back to the camera each time, or a wired remote means a short range around the camera and having the cord potentially in the shot. Wireless just gives more freedom. If there's isn't one for the D3100, I might have a look into third party ones, or see what else might be useful.

The Nikon MC-DC2 is listed as compatible with the D3100, but that's wired and only 1 metre long. The D3100 doesn't have the option of using the infra-red ML-L3.
There are 3rd party wireless substitutes for the MC-DC2 available on eBay. Chris |
Just to clarify , the reason I mentioned the bad review about the third party remote on youtube was because it was the only review I could find , third party items can be as good as the branded one and at a fraction of the cost and I have some myself which I am very happy with but keep in mind the old saying ( Buyer Beware )

In recent months I sold a Gossen Digisix meter to a man in Russia, and a macro lens to a man in France.
