Converter Lens
Hi,
I have a wide angle/maco converter lens 0.5x52mm (not through choice just an error buy :o but might as well try and use it) and took it out today for the first time, I must be doing something wrong as all the side of the pictures were distorted, can anyone please give me some advise on the best way to use this. Thanks in advance Nina :) |
I have one one too, I got it to play around with. I find the edges are distorted a bit as well. It is just the quality of the optics.

so I'm not doing anything really wrong then, I know you wont know what I'm doing but I'll take it as a good sign I'm not alone :)

How wide ngle are you talking? Wide angle lenses will distort at the edges to varying degrees. It's just the nature of this type of lens.

It's a converter lens:
Specifications Magnification -Wide Angle Converter .05x Lens 0.5x Hope this helps, I am still a novice so any help will a benefit Thank you :) |

I'm not sure whether it's best to use a wide aperture or a small one, but I believe it can make a difference. |

Strictly speaking, any lens will distort three dimensional objects at the edges - it's a purely natural result of the Way Things Are and nothing at all to do with the quality or otherwise of the optics. Poor quality optics will distort more, of course due to faults; but even a perfect lens would not be free of this type of distortion. |
What was the focal length of the lens you were using, zoom or fixed. Ed.
