A good beginners camera.
I want to get into photography, mainly of sports (Mountain Biking, Rugby possibly), and would like a Digital SLR. I have roughly £200-£300. What is the best I can get for that price?
Oh and a quite small one would be better as I would have it in my bag whilst riding. |
Hello Harry,
Welcome to the forums. Now you say you'd like to get into photography but you're on quite a restricted budget. For a DSLR I think you'll have to look at a secondhand model for that kind of money. Otherwise, your other best option would be to have what is called a bridge camera. It's a little bit bigger than a compact and comes a lens with approximately a 15x - 25x zoom, that is good enough to get you close in on the action. The other thing to consider is a DSLR comes with an ever increasing footprint as you will find yourself buying ever more equipment to go with it as time passes. With a bridge camera, you cannot interchange the lenses for starters, so the amount of additional equipment you may buy to use with it is much much more limited. |
Hi Harry
As Ian ha already said, I think that for your budget (and if space is an issue) you would be much better off with a bridge camera. Have a look at the Canon Powershot SX20 IS, the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-38 and the Canon Powershot SX1 IS. |

On a recent trip to Dalby i took a Canon 400d sigma 10-20 and a flash ......you can get very close to the action so you dont need a long lens the . You need the flash because you will find that on a lot of the runs through the forest its a bit dark and try and get the flash off the camera as you will get better results.
@ shoot_me wish i lived near Cwmcarn David |
