Digital Portable Portfolios
Hi,
Has anyone got any good ideas for digital portfolios. I was thinking of buying an Android tablet but they are out of my price range. I then thought of a digital photo frame but it would need to run off batteries. I have a low budget of around £50 but not sure what to try. Its really so that I can 'show off' my photos to friends/family and pro's when I see them instead of having to log in to a website etc. Any help or advice with this will be appreciated. Cheers Neil |
forgive my naivete but what is wrong with " Ye Olde Worlde " paper & ink or am I being a silly burp?

One other thing keep your portfolio on a usb stick attach to your keys then you can just borrow their machine to show off

so prints are not a go idea? |
Personally I think you should have a printed portfolio. Don't discount those clients, friends or family members that like to have tangible prints and don't like looking at screens. You could also leave a photobook or album with them to peruse.

No I would not say a printed portfolio has no place I have one for my work but the question was about (I think) a more casual approach "Its really so that I can 'show off' my photos to friends/family and pro's when I see them instead of having to log in to a website etc." Maybe I was wrong wont be the first time lol |

As I said, I do have a printed portfolio in the form of a photo book but I increasingly find Clients expect to see my work electronically and in fact that is how they expect it to be delivered. I can not of say what happens at the high end of fashion and product photography but the days of sending round slides by courier seem well behind me. |
A tricky one this as for £50 I don't think you are going to get a display quality that does your images justice. I think you would be better saving a bit longer and look at the cheaper quality tablet devices such as the Google Nexus or Kindle Fire HD, they are also great devices for checking emails, surfing the web etc.
A pen drive is a good cheaper option though which bypasses the need to login to a website however some companies may have security policies in place that prevent you from plugging it into there machines. Another option would be a dvd movie of your images. |
