The Struggle

Afternoon all

If you've ever been in the Lake District you'll know of some interesting roads to take your car up. The Struggle is one of them. Not as bad as Hard Knott but still an interesting drive.

And if anyone is interested, I'm working on a couple of dates next year for workshops in the area.

Hi Jools

Beautiful location and a fantastically dramatic sky , now I know you prefer to do as little PP work as pos so my question is firstly is this a single shot or did you do multiple exposures to get the sky and foreground so evenly exposed and secondly I'm not sure if it's me but do you think the road has lost detail in blown highlights .

Hi Mark

It is a single exposure and not a blend.

With regards to the road. The highlights were very difficult as you had the sun reflecting off of the water that lay in the road. There are some instances whereby you just have to let somethings blow out and this was one of them.

It was a g!t to get it without blowing things too much!

I love the Lake District so much, so picturesque. The last time I went was with an ex and the least said about that the better but I adore this photograph. The road is a bit off granted but the rest of the photograph looks so beautiful.
