Nice theme and one we can all experiment with. You can get amazing star bursts from long exposures where theres a street light, lamp etc. I experimented last night, after Jediboy announced the theme he wanted and got some nice shots.

Thanks for posting this Sabrina.
It's a theme I wanted to do more of and hopefully others will too. |
No thanks Jediboy.
I can't wait to experiment with long exposure! |
Does this theme involve a camera;)
Seriously this is a great theme, I haven't really been able to get involved with the monthly comps for a while but want to have a go at this one. |
I like a nice long exposure lol..With the Aurora about might be an ideal time to try it too.
|
Ok how long is long??
Some consider 1/30 longer then normal but myself shoot hand held at 1/20 sometimes. |
Im sure its up to the photographer lol. Jediboy might confirm on his return.

That's a good question La Pistola. I don't know if there are any 'rules' for this.
For me, and this is just my thoughts, it long enough to create some sort of effect in the photo - for example, milky water effects, motion, light trails, night time/lights. Just my thoughts. |
Could you stipulate a minimum exposure time that would get you thinking about longer exposures and the technique and tools necessary? It's not too late is it?
