To upgrade or not to upgrade ...

Hello,
I have a Sony A350 that I bought about 5 years ago and, realistically, haven't got the best out of - mainly because I do my photography on high days and holidays.

I am going to Iceland after christmas and hope to see the northern lights so have planned to buy a camcorder to get movies as well as still shots of said lights. I also need to buy a decent tripod. My budget is about £200 each for these two items.

I started looking online and came across the Sony A65 and A77. I know DLSRs now all seem to have movie functionality and I've always thought if I want a camcorder I'll buy one, but my fancy has been tickled and I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to get a better camera ( an extra 10 mps) and camcorder in one. I notice Camera World promoting trade in so i could save a bit but even if that was mega bucks i reckon I'd have to spend an extra £500 over my original camcorder budget.

Is it worth it??? In other words can someone persuade me NOT to spend the money when I still have a £2000 holiday bill to pay. Or is the A77 THAT good?

thanks
L

Don't spend your money fella, you have the gear and don't get into the pixel war, If I were you, take a very large SD card with you, maybe 2 and take loads of pictures, the proper pictures I suggest you set the Camera to RAW and High Quality large JPEG, get a Hama remote and don't forget your tripod fro the Norther Lights, day to day photos just use JPEG and enjoy yourself

Get to the right posision for your photos, relax and have a great time.

Rob[/QUOTE]]Very, very bad advice. Take multiple SMALL cards. If you lose one, break one, etc, you have lost fewer photos. You do not want all your eggs in one basket.
