Either your second shot or the last one. They're all beautifully exposed and processed, but the composition seems to work best in these two shots.
|
For me, the first, hands down. It's the only one that conveys a message and meaning to me.
The more obvious reply is to ask "best for what?". |
I have to agree, but they're all very good. And the sky in the fourth is great. It's difficult to choose just one.
|
esI would say the second and 4th on, as the arch distracts the eye somewhat in the 1st. The 3rd looses the details of the arches.
|
The problem I have with your 1st shot is that I find myself looking through the arch at the houses nestling in the valley below and then I'm ignoring the viaduct completely. Too many distractions, hence why your 2nd and 4th work best.
|
Convention would say not number one as I'm not sure what the main subject is if there is one. However, the viaduct is extremely prominent in all photographs which leads me to suggest that is the main focus. But I like the first one because you have to look and think about it more, i can perceive it as a bird's eye view swooping under the arch to the village and fields beyond. The placement of the upright in the centre throws the composition and now the eye goes through the arch not along the viaduct to the horizon as the others do.
Great detail in all images but the sky looks false in the last one. |

Does the subject have to appear in the photograph? |

On reflection, no I don't suppose it does. |

Personally, it does for me, but of course everyone is entitled to their own subjective opinion. It would be boring if we all shared the same point of view. ;) |
