Nikon NX2 vs Photoshop Elements 8

Hi
With my birthday arriving soon its an opportune time for me to upgrade my Elements 6 to Elements 8 but have just noticed Nikon NX2 which looks pretty good according to the 'hype' on the Nikon website! I'm a very keen amateur but don't want the steep learning curve of a full Photoshop package. I have a Nikon D80 and shoot only in RAW. I often return home with a batch of 30 or more photographs for processing.

Can anyone give me advise on a comparison between Nikon NX2 and Elements please? I'd be happy to pay the extra for NX if its worth it.

Many thanks
Christian.

I've recently got NX2 and also use PSE 6 on the mac. Of the 2, I prefer NX2, but they tend to excel at different things so I end up using both.

I've heard bad things about the speed NX2 runs at on the PC, but I've had no problems with the mac version.

Hope this helps.

I`ve got NX2, Photoshop CS2 and now Lightroom to try out. I`ve no doubt that I get best raw conversions through NX2 and the control points yo can use to adjust specific areas of an image and adjust everything from brightness/contrast/ saturation to colour balance are brilliant. It`s a shame it has not got just a little more functionality as I end up having to use CS2 as well for decent cloning/ other bits of editing and I am now seeing if Lightroom offers more. Then again the trouble with me is I end up not fully utilising all features of anything I get through not giving it time. Why not try out a free download and see if it world for you. It is slow (NX2) at time on my old PC but faster than lightroom.
