It's almost certain that the CL-2 contains 6 AA-size cells. I'd be tempted to open up the battery pack, take out the old NiCd cells, and put some eneloops in it. The worst that can happen is that you trash the CL-2 case, but since it doesn't hold a charge anyway...

Well, actually, the worst that can happen is you have a fire or explosion when you charge the batteries, but hey-ho.
