August - monthly competition - refraction photography

This months topic is as stated above, and as such you need to produce an image that shows one or more refractions.

You can play around with props, colours and patterns by changing whats caught in the refraction.

Anoher technique we can have fun with and experiment with. It doesn't matter what props etc you use to capture the refraction.

has anyone tried this yet?

Got a picture of a rainbow at the weekend, thats refraction but think that there must be something better than that.

I tried, but I'm not happy with the result. I keep trying.

got an idea for this theme, but don't think it'll be the 'refraction in a water drop' idea - my kit (and my skills) aren't good enough for that(!).

My kit isn't quite there for dew drop refraction but Im looking at buying something dependant upon price.

One of my attempts. I'm struggling with light... and sharpness...

Hey, its a start, and unlike the weekly comp, we can give critique beforehand so improvements can be made before final entry. Yu certainly have the idea but have you tried a crop to eliminate some of the bare green background to bring the drop a bit closer? I can see some refraction but would love a closer up image.

What camera do you have, and have you got live view?

Hi DD,

My camera is a Nikon D7000, I'm using my Nikkor Micro 85mm lens.
I have live view, but i'm not really happy with the display on the D7000.

When I crop, the image is not sharp enough.

And yes I have the idea, but my second idea about background can be seen in the picture below. I had some water splashes on my lens, and a bad lightning , making the photo unusable...
