The only problem lies in the LOCOG terms and conditions:
19.6.3 Images, video and sound recordings of the Games taken by a Ticket Holder cannot be used for any purpose other than for private and domestic purposes and a Ticket Holder may not license, broadcast or publish video and/or sound recordings, including on social networking websites and the internet more generally, and may not exploit images, video and/or sound recordings for commercial purposes under any circumstances, whether on the internet or otherwise, or make them available to third parties for commercial purposes. |
only video/sound can't be posted on forums etc. images are ok as long as you're not using them for commercial purposes.

That puts an end to that thread then!

That may be true; but if so the rules have been changed from the ones on the LOCOG site which I copied and pasted. Images were specifically included (and placed first in the list) of things that could not be posted. A photographic competition that was started where the entries were taken at the Olympics was cancelled almost immediately on announcement, because LOCOG rules prohibited the images being used publicly. |
LOCOG and the IOC have a huge monopoly on anything Olympics related. It's ridiculous and unreasonable in my opinion.

A court was told yesterday how a policeman, who was at the Presthaven Sands Holiday Park in Gronant on another matter, followed Lisa Docktray, 41, after being concerned at the way she was driving. Ms Docktray was found to have an alcohol reading of 102 microgrammes, well above the legal limit of 35. She was banned from driving for two years, fined £85, and sent on a drink impaired driver's course run by the probation service. Gwyn Jones, defending, said his client believed it was OK to drive as she thought the holiday park was private land. He told the Daily Post: "She believed that it was private ground and that she could drive. "This was the first time she had done it." It was explained to her that if the pubic had even limited access, then it was a public area. Mr Jones said Ms Docktray was a "lady of unblemished character", who was "ashamed" of her behaviour. I wonder if that applies to photography, as it would make any area which restricts photography but allows public access, unable to stop you taking photos. :D |
Legally speaking, a public place is anywhere the public have access, on payment or otherwise.

I managed to get tickets to the Paralympics and got my 500d and the 75-300mm kit lens through security and was told that as long as the camera and extended lens didn't exceed 30cm I was fine - it came to 27cm so phew!
Here are a few shots that I took: - If I need to take them down I will... |
