North American Subs prices are odd
 

I buy DCM almost monthly. I do not subscribe. Here is why:

The North American Subscriptions are run by IMS News. IMS News also distributes the magazine to shops.

The subs price is $115.99 USD or with today's exchange rate $118.34 Canadian.

That is $9.10 per issue at 13 issues per year. I can buy it for $8.98 per issue and decide not to buy some if they are week on content.

That is very, very odd. I have never seen a magazine cost more on a subscription than it does on the shelf in a shop. I say it is because IMS gets about the same revenue either way, they have no vested interest in getting more subscribers. Future does as more subscribers means they can increase advertising rates.

Thanks. It does not matter to me so much, but it should matter to those higher up at Future. They will be missing out on subscribers. IMS did put the price up $1 sometime this year, is used to be $6.95 plus tax rather than $7.95 plus tax. (tax is separate from price here since it will vary from province to province).
