How to cement resolution for all images.
 

My high street printer prefers me to use 300DPI....so i have opened an image in PS5 and changed the specs to show this. No problem thus far....all is good.
Just to check i opened another image and checked its resolution.....it was back to 240 DPI.

Question: Do i have to change the resolution individually with every image processed or is there a blanket way i can cement 300DPI to remain for ALL IMAGES?

If your converting your images once there on the PC or from camera/card to PC etc then you more than likely can set the convert options to 300DPI.

I take it you shoot in RAW? Do you convert the images as there transfered to your PC? If so to what and with what.

Other option is to batch convert all to 300dpi. If you have bridge you can do this quite simply. You should have bridge if you have PS CS5.

However RAW images are normally 300dpi so I suspect that a convertion your doing somewhere is changing this to 240dpi. I remember this happening to me when converting to DNG when transferring off camera. A quick play in the convert settings fixing it.

No. Out of camera they are normally 72 PPI. when converting from Raw you have the option to select what PPI you want. Once selected, all converted images will reflect the setting you selected. See attached photo. Just alter the setting in the workflow options box.
Access Workflow Options by left clicking on the text bottom centre of the Camera Raw page.

Just a small point, DPI is a printing term, what you actually mean is PPI. (Pixels Per Inch)

Now then I have believed for years its been 300 for RAW images off camera as all the software I have ever used have always said 300. Another example of assumption is the mother of all mess up's. Guess we have both learn't something. Thank you.

No problem, as a matter of fact never ever using Adobe Camera Raw I had to run it to check how it was done.
I use Lightroom where you set the PPI by going to EDIT>>Preferences then select the External Editing tab.

What i have found also is that when i use L/room then transfer it to CS5 it by-passes ACR and opens with a PPI of 240 [when i open the relevant box to find out ]
However if i open a RAW image directly in CS5 it automatically shows 300PPI [WHICH I AM WANTING :)
