Canon EOS 500D Battery Grip

Hi,

I am looking at getting a BG-E5 battery grip for my 500d, the confusing part is whether to get the Canon one at around £95.00 or get the one that I have seen on Amazon for £27.00.
I know it makes sense to spend less but what is the difference in the product?

Thanks
Gratris

Make sure you get 2 batterys with it, cause the cannon batterys won't fit it. There about £40 on ebay with 2 batterys. I got one for my 550D works great. You will need a LP-E5 battery charger there about £10..

Check on the batteries. There are many thrid party grips and some do not take the Canon batteries, some do.

Thanks guy's, I'll give it some thought, I could do with one that will accept Canon batteries as I have two of those.

Hi I got a battery grip for my 550d from amazon it came with 2 batteries and a remote release, the canon battery fits the grip too. i get really good life out of the third party batteries, i took over 500 before changing them and only because it was a good point to change when i did.

Of course, they are cheaper.

I picked up a clone battery grip for my canon 500D for £27 off amazon. The canon battery fitted fine. as long as its an ep-5 battery grip it shoudl be fine :)

Thanks Guy's.

Jamie B, regarding the photo's in your gallery, did you take those shots with the 500d?

The battery grip has arrived, it looks and seems great.

I picked up one for my 500d on ebay for around £30.00 and the grip itself is great, although adds a little weight to the camera but with a bigger lens on the camera feels more balanced.

I must admit, mine came with 2 batteries but they don't last an awful long time. I thought it might just be a faulty connection or something as they ran out within about 100 shots so I put my Canon battery in and it lasted a lot longer, so I am thinking it's the batteries and not the grip. I think I might go for some Hahnel batteries available at Jessops to see how they go or does anybody have any recommendations???
