Too Noisey HELP!!!!!!!!!!
 

Hi everyone,
I have just bought myself an cannon ultrasonic 75-300 telephoto lense but seem to be getting a lot of noise, I am shooting in Raw, am I doing something wrong? or am I expecting too much at 300m , I am trying to take pictures of golf swings with a high shutter speed and a low Fstop 4.

You need to have a look at the EXIF data for the photo. Although the camera was set to auto, it will tell you what ISO the camera actually selected.

And we still need to know what sort of camera it was!

[I]Edit: I think you said in a previous thread that you had a Canon EOS 50D. If you look at the EXIF data you should be able to find the aperture, shutter speed and ISO. That will help.

I see what you mean! the iso was 1600 ,guess thats where the noise is coming from? so does that mean I just need better light or is there a trade off ??

I don't have any experience of the 50D but unless it's ISO range is drastically higher than the 40D I think that to expect some noise at ISO1600 is fairly reasonable. To a greater or lesser extent, noise can be greatly reduced in software but if yours doesn't allow for this you might (after conversion) want to try Noiseware Community Edition which is a very nice piece of Freeware from [URL="http://www.imagenomic.com"]www.imagenomic.com[/URL] . This, to date, has satisfied my needs although there is a Pro version - at cost of course. Another couple of options would be to buy a Nikon D3 (only joking), buy a faster lens not to mention adding more light if you're in a position to do so in an effort to bring down the ISO needed somewhat.

Thanks for leaving comment in my Gallery Cutter. I don't usually post images to my Gallery and these three particular images were used as Screenshots to either emphasise a point or to request an opinion in various threads. I have left comment in my Gallery under the image you are referring to which perhaps answers your question?
