candlelight photos canon 550d
hi, i am really struggling to get sharp candlelight photos.
i have recently just gone with the standard flash off mode and a timer release and tripod. The results are ok but not sharp. The shots i am after are a full screen not clsoe up, of one or more people in a alcove of candles on each side. The alcove and surrounding area are pitch black and the only light is the candles. Can anyone suggest some settings to try, i'm thinking AV mode, with indoor or tugsten white balance? Would welcoem any ideas to try , cheers Neil |

It sounds to me like your shutter speed is too low. Even with the use of tripod and cable release any movement in the model(s) will result in blur. Try upping your ISO or use the fastest lens you have and open it up wide. Edit. I've just done a quick Google search and found this: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/14-tips-for-great-candlelight-photography may be of some use to you. |
