Some Informal Daughter Portraits
 

I grabbed a few shots of my daughter whilse she was browsing Ebay looking for new clothes for her folks to spend their money on, as usual.

All shots were at f1.8 on the Canon nifty-fifty, with a camera-mounted flash which had a ring-flash attachment fitted to it.

Lovely images Cathus pin sharp and I was quite surprised at how deep the DOF was at f/1.8 I'm going to have to get myself a nifty fifty for my Nikon , the first two images seem to have a more natural colour tone to them than the third or is that just me .

I'd love to know how you got your daughter to sit for you every time I turn my camera towards my daughter she threatens to do nasty things to it unless I go away , must be an age thing she is a lot older than your daughter looks .

the first two were taken in the playroom as she sat at her computer, the second was taken in the kitchen. Though they were both metered to capture some ambient light, I took a white balance off the white of her eye in post processing.

As to posing for the shots, this was quite informal. She knows I'm taking a photo a day and that it would be quick. She's not too keen to sit for long for me these days, having done it for many years it's not much fun for her now. She will help out now and again but loses interest after 15-20 mins.
She is a photographer herself so we sometimes take photos of each other but she has to be in the right mood.

Her two older sisters won't pose for me at all now, they're 17 & 20 and too self-conscious, and I don't think it's cool to help your dad out when he needs some photos.

What a pretty girl! Very nice shots and so sharp! The first one is my fave!

Lovely shots Garry. I'm a fan of the ring flash adapters as they give a really nice wrapped around light. I've got a "Coco" which is a total knock off of the Rayflash. Its great she's in to photography already! I really wish I had started as a kid. Hopefully she won't lose interest in it any time soon.

yes I have high hopes for her. She developed a flair when she was just 8, so I bought her a Canon 350D off Ebay, she now uses a Canon 20D. She has to be in the mood for it though, quite often when ask if she wants to come out and do a bit of photography, she'd rather sit on her PC doing Facebooking.

My ringflash adapter was via a Chinese Website, it's more like a horseshoe than a ring but it does a reasonable job for such a cheap attachment

yep that's exactly what I thought when I tried the 50mm for the first time in 3 years a few days ago. Definitely be using it more often.
