I read somewhere that there is a short cut method of getting a Windows 7 screengrab straight into PSE9 ready for editing, without going through Accessories/Paint.

I have forgotten how to do it.

Is there somebody with a better memory than mine?

Whilst I don't have PSE, I have the full Photoshop, here's how I do it (although it's not specific to Win 7) :

Hold down Alt and press PrtScn, this should do the screen capture .
Open Photoshop and click File > New, then Edit > Paste your screen grab should now show in your window. With PSE you might just be able to paste straight away with a Ctrl V without doing the File > New.

Edit: I've been thinking about this, I wonder if you are referring to the snipping tool in Win 7? [url]http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/features/snipping-tool[/url] otherwise my method above should capture the active window which is all I usually need.

You don't need to press Alt, as Print Screen is the top part of the key, just press it, then open any application you want, select new document, Right Click in the open document and from the dropdown list select paste. :D

You are right, but just pressing Print Screen will do a screen capture of the whole desktop. Alt and Print Screen will do a screen capture of just the active window (i.e. no desktop icons etc). And right clicking in Photoshop CS5, if you don't have a canvas open, doesn't do anything unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's the same with PSE.

I did say, you need to create a blank document before selecting the paste option. :p

Doesn't Version 10 have "File > New > Image from Clipboard"? If it does, that removes the requirement for a new blank document.
