William Eggleston : Chromes
I really want this book - William Eggleston: Chromes but unless I win the lottery cannot justify £209 for a photo book.
I wish there was a cheaper version. What is the most you would pay for a book on photography? Karen |
There's no pleasing some people. Amazon have even reduced it from the original £220 just for you.:D

I have been known to spend in excess of £10 on a photo book. The most I would pay? If I won the lottery, I'd buy this one, then pass it on to you, Karen, when I've read it.

I know lol. The problem is, it won't get much cheaper either because photobooks have a limited publication number so once they're gone that's it. In 12mths time you'll probably see this for sale for double or more than its price now. I bought Royal wedding by Martin Parr about a month or so ago for £9 and now its out of stock on Amazon UK and going for £48 Karen |
Yes if i won the lottery, but as currently the Book Costs as much as i earn from work in a month i dont think id manage it,

Chris
I am terrible for photobooks and have too many to remember but I think the most I have paid was £65 for a Diane Arbus book. Lets hope you win the lottery, Chris :-) Karen |
Oh dear, Karen..... we must be totally opposite in our appreciation of photography! Eggleston? Arbus? I don't wish to offend, but I wouldn't give them houseroom (ditto for most of those post-war New York favourites!) Gas stations and freaks. Ah well.

lol I am crazy about William Eggleston, I've got all his books and a couple of DVDs. He really appeals to me as a person as well as photographer. I don't just like the older 'greats' but lots of the new contemporary photographers as well. Everyone's tastes are different, I really like Martin Parr but some despise the guy. Karen |
Yes, perhaps Martin Parr's work could be pigeon-holed with some of those American photographers..... but I feel there's a certain naive charm with his work.

Some great 'new' photography can be found here : http://vervephoto.wordpress.com/
