Photo of the Day??!!!
Is it me or has the current photo of the day been present for 3 days???.......Therefore, under the current site changes, should this feature be re-named "POTD (or longer if/when we get round to changing it)"....:p

Sorry - that's my fault.
I've been updating them as a favour (I don't work here anymore lol...) but I just haven't had time over the past few days, especially with POTY shortlists being announced tomorrow... Amy |
The whole thing is becoming a farce now, seriously, and as a branch of a top camera mag, it should be s*it hot on here.

BEST OF LUCK! |

I'm sorry DigiDiva, there just isn't the staff available at the moment, especially as I left in July and Marcus left in October, there is no-one available to dedicate themselves full-time to the website at the moment. I am just helping out when I get the odd minute or two to look in, obviously I can't run a whole website by myself in my spare time :) As you may have seen we have been recruiting for a Community Editor, once they join, and the new website goes live, you will see a marked improvement. Once again, apologies for the inconvenience. Amy |
Amy, I'm not getting at you or the poor staff left to cope.Didn't mean that to be a personal attack on you. Sorry if that's how it came across. It's the 'bosses' that should be sorting this out. Members are leaving daily and as I said, the mag is the best on the market and anyone with sense would expect a forum to match. It's very nice of you to respond and we all (I'm sure) appreciate that you guys do your best. C'mon bosses, sit up and listen and help out your poor staff!

If people are regularly viewing POTD why don't they just take a few seconds to leave a comment on the selected work?

Unfortunately, building a new site takes time - I don't think it's a case of them not listening - they are - it's more a case of patience while the new site is worked out. |
Fair point Karen. One of the POTD's I really loved is the basis of my college project. I saw his POTD, looked at his gallery here, then his Flickr, then his website, and have used his style as the starting point of my project. We had to choose a photo that appealed to us, look up the photographer, look at thir other work, give comments about it and then base oour project on our chosen photo.

Amy[/QUOTE]The overall point is that it should have NEVER come to this. Upper management should have prevented it. The editors of the magazines should have been screaming to fix things here as this site is an extension of their magazines and therefore reflects poorly on the magazines and them. We are past the days of online and print being separate, they need to work together. I think that each brand should have a print component and an online one. So DCM has it's own site, PP has it's own site and the same for NP. The editor of the magazine should be responsible for both. They could still share components like the forums or even the galleries, but the main sites should be. I cannot believe that they have not found the Community Editor yet. Since I am now available, I would toss my hat in the ring. As long as I can do it from Canada ;) |
