RAW HDR to JPEG, how?

I have some great shots I have taken using multiple RAW images combined into HDR in Photomatix. The TIFF files I have then editied in Photoshop with great results. I am now facing a real problem though, I cannot save them as JPEG images, Photoshop does not give me the option and its a little difficult to post and share 55MB files.

Please help!

thanks

Matt

which version of photoshop you useing?

are you trying to use the save for web option or the "save as"

things to try are reduce the bit depth and/or the image size to something more sutitable for the web ie 8 bit longest side 700 px

hope this helps

Ed

Changing to 8 bit was the answer!

Thanks a lot. Maybe one day I will understand what that actually means!

The short answer is that every point between fully black and fully white is represented by one of 256 values (2 to the power of 8 is 256) or 1 of 65536 values (2 to the power of 16 is 65536). Using a higher bit-count allows smoother changes between levels as each step is smaller, but requires more space as the computer has to use more information to store each point.

JPEG is a format which was only ever specified to deal with 8 bit numbers, whereas TIFF was specified to work with either.

Awesome, cheers for that.
