Saving from card to PC
Hi there, Can anyone advise me on saving my Piccy's from my camera (via using a usb card reader) onto my PC. As well as saving to my PC I would like to "back-up save them to my external harddrive just as they are.
Is it ok to save via windows explorer ( selected from the menu box that opens) is there anything lost or gained by using windows explorer if I do not wish to edit them (at least to start with) Simple info please!!! not to deep to start with - be gentle with me!!!! Steve |

Steve
using windows explorer to write your files is fine always copy your files to your computer first and then from there to the External drive some editing software allow you to both at once but its up to you as in the end it makes no difference hope this helps Ed |
Use Windows explorer to copy the card to the PC, then copy the files from the hard disk to your external drive. It's quicker to copy from your hard disk to the external drive than from you card reader. I use this with my cards, but normally use move as it deletes them from the source i.e. the compact flash card, but from hard disk to external disk use the copy option. :D

You can also use the free Picasa program as an alternative to Explorer. Better for organizing your pic's.
I sometimes use a card-reader and sometimes just connect the camera to the PC via USB. However, a couple of these things are in my future: http://www.eye.fi/products/home |
