Nikon D800
I wouldn't count your chickens just yet, but it's looking like:

36MP sensor
Approx £2,500
4 FPS Full-frame, 6FPS in DX mode
|
I wish they'd stop releasing new cameras. Makes my feel annoyed that I can't upgrade every time.
|
Just reading this myself. Wonder if the video performance will match the 5d mk2 because if rumours are correct canon are not releasing any slr's this year.
|
I think it reads more like a baby-improved-D3x than a D700/D3/D3s type of camera. I wonder what else is to come? Not that I can afford or even want one of them.

Nah, D3 will still have the edge for low light iso capability. I think the new D4 will have a completely different sensor to the D800 (whereas the D3 and D700 were very similar)
|
I would find it pretty hard to justify buying one of them. I'm working my why up the ladder. I think the d300 equivalent at the time probs 2-3yrs will be good enough for me.

I agree, It makes it hard to keep up with the lattest kit, but this is how alot of these companies make their money. they churn out new bits & peaces by the new time and it leaves us the consumer falling over our-self trying to keep up. |

The question you have to ask yourself is - are you happy with your current camera? If so then why do you feel the need to constantly upgrade? Personally I am more than happy with my D90 and I can't see myself ever being in a position where I feel limited by it. At the moment the only reason I would buy a new body would be if I damaged or lost my current one. It's the same with software, if the current version does all you want it to then why keep upgrading with the resultant cost in time and money. |

I felt a need to upgrade from my box brownie to a 35mm, from that to one with interchangeable lenses, then to an SRL, and now a DSLR. I don't feel that any of these changes were in any way unwarranted and each gave me more freedom of expression and better quality output. I accept that upgrading just for the sake of it is pretty pointless, but there will come a time when your D90 will just not be enough for you - Trust me:D |
I was happy with my d40x appart from iso performance and no bracketing. I'm very happy with my d5100. There gonna have to have some drastic improvements for me to replace this camera.
