hi everyone, i am looking to buy a home lighting steup, and just wanted a bit of advice on what to go for. are there any specific features that i should look for, and any specific brands to go for or avoid? i dont want to spend more than £300 if possible.
many thanks, craig
Glad you posted this on here! I have the exact same question. There a lot of cheap light kits on ebay, and while I know "You get what you pay for", I too don't want to spend a fortune.
My main questions are how many lights and what wattage would I need for shooting no more that 3 people at a time (mostly just one at a time).
Lets see if we can get some answers here..
If you find any other info, please let me know.
I spent quite a lot of time researching this for myself. I looked at Elinchrom lights at Focus earlier this year, but they are quite expensive and the light shapers are quite expensive too. Some of my friends use Bowens, and these do seem to be very popular
I've posted this somewhere else in the forum already, but in the end I bought a kit from Lencarta and I've been very happy with them. They had a great review in another magazine, and their customer service seemed very helpful.
They appear to be very well constructed and use the Bowens "S" type fitting, which seems the most common light shaping fitting type.
I bought a heavy duty background support from Calumet and paper backgrounds from Creativity Backgrounds.
