Exhibiting photos - Help!
Hi all,
Someone, who shall remain nameless, has suggested I exhibit the next time our local arts society have an exhibition in our local shopping cnetre - end of Nov. With lots of enthusiasm I've gone and booked a 6' x 2'6" screen for the princely sum of £20. I'm happy(ish) with my photos, but I've suddenly realised I've got no idea about printing them and framing them - panic!!! I'm sure I can work it out, but any advice on getting the best results, quickly, and as cheaply as possible would be greatfully recieved. Thanks! Tim |
Have you got a photo printer? If so you can print them yourself. You could also try mounting them on some black card with some spray mount. I always think photos look more "professional" on a border.
If you need them printed larger than A4, or you don't have a photo printer at home, find a local shop and get them printed ASAP and mount them yourself at home. |
I have got a printer, but I don't rate it (I didn't buy it).
Although I'm doing this for fun more than anything, most people use the screens to sell paintings (some very good, some very bad), and so I will be putting a price on them. As such I do want them to look as good as possible. Is the (e.g.) snappysnaps in my high street going to be able to produce a good enough quality to sell? Also, do you think mounts are sufficient? Shouldn't I frame them? |
Your local snappysnaps should be OK for bigger than A4 prints if you've not got much notice.
I would suggest you mount some and offer a framing service. That way if people want them framed they can but you don't have to shell out for it without knowing if you're gonna sell anything. If they want a mounted print they can have one then and there! |
Thanks Chris
I've got until the end of Nov, so a little while. I'll only do A4 for the moment. |
Hi Tim,
Is there a good local picture framer you can do a deal with? ie. Get one 'correctly' framed with a suitable mount (with or without your signature) to form the centre of your display, with others just mounted around it. Hopefully you can pursuade the framer to let you have some mounts on a sale or return basis and a few of his cards to put beside yours - He/she may even offer more assistance who knows. Best of luck Andy |
