Photography courses
I am interested in peoples opinion's on photography courses in general, and if anyone might be able to recommend a good course in North London.

I don't know anything specific but know of people that have done photography GCSE and found it to be really good, having said that a lot of what they tend to get is inspiration from others.
You can achieve some good inspiration and learning from a local camera club also. Be careful though I recently signed up on an Intermediate Digital Photography course, I got the full course notes and swiftly cancelled as for me it was very basic covering things like getting your images off the camera, using red eye reduction on your camera, cropping images if they had time. I am by know means belittling the course but I was looking for something with a lot more traditional content along with the digital aspects and something I would consider at an intermediate level, even the advanced one only went as far as very basic image manipulation and didn't really cover photography. I guess you need to be more specific about what you want to learn and what level you are at now, also do you have any idea of what you want to photograph? |

The Open College of Arts does very good distance learning courses in photography. Check out www.oca-uk.com.

Thanks for the comments.
I guess the question of what I am looking to get from a course is quite important. I have some good knowledge, but I suspect there are some basic gaps which I would want to fill in (you don't know what you don't know!) What do I want to take? Lots of things really. I guess what I'd like to do is to start making my hobby pay for it's self. Tim |

Worth checking Hotcourses. They show all the photographic courses in your area.
I did a beginner ten week course at a local adult education centre, where TBH, I found it too basic. I certainly needed something more testing. |
