Canon 60D Vs Canon 7D - Which one to buy??

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a new Canon body and am a bit unsure as to which one to purchase - the Canon 60D or the Canon 7D.

I currently shoot with a Canon 50D and the whole idea is for me to retire the 50D to being a second body and use the new body as my primary camera - considering I have used the 50D as my work horse for close to two years now.

I shoot wildlife and nature with shoots at airshows and motor sporting events thrown in as well. I also do corporate events and weddings and hence have started feeling the need for a second body.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks.

I have a 60D and my dada has a 7D. The main thing you notice is the 7D is made out of tougher stuff. My issue was I could afford a 7D body at a push but not afford any decent lenses for it.

I decided to go for the 60D which is still a great camera and invest in quality glass for it. I didn't see the point in having an amazing body with rubbish lenses on the front of it.

Although I'm no expert but, I would go for the 7D as it has a faster burst rate and is geared towards the wildlife and sports end of the market(in my opinion).....

I'd have probably gone for the 60D over the 7D if it had existed when I got the 7D - especially having got the G11 and finding the reticulating screen is ace! I'm no 'machine gunner' so rarely use the burst advantage and mainly fair weather so the weather sealing's wasted on me! My shooting is fairly generalist but not much people portraiture (otherwise it would've been a 5D MkII) - commissions are kept to pets and the occasional photoshoot. OH has the 60D so I've used it a fair bit! ;)

Thank you all for taking the time to offer your comments, thoughts and insights. Much appreciated.

After taking into account all that has been said here coupled with a fair bit of reading, research and deliberation, I have finally decided to purchase the Canon 7D.

Now to get it in my hands and start shooting :)

I'll take one too, let me know when you ship it ;) I would take the 7D as well over the 60D.
