hi alol, one from 2nyt, pretty much likked the camera from this, got wiped out by a wave, altho it still works after drying it off, lol, got this, not 100 % i think its almost there, but would like some opinions,

HI Dan, great shot, loads of atmosphere. I could just picture myself relaxing there, the only thing that I would do is (this is just my opinion) crop part of the sky to just above the mountain as I think you would want the focal points to be the sun, the two rocks in the fore ground and the waves coming in over the pebbles. As it is, my eye keeps wandering up to the dark part of the sky which is taking out of the photo and away from what I should be really looking at which is a wonderful photo.......

Thanks tony,no offence caused, i like the suggestion, where i had to use two grads in order to hold back the sun, its over darkened the naturally dark partss of the shot, got a few more to edit yet, see how they look aswell,

I agree Dan, try loosing the darker part of the sky at the top. I love the lapping of the waves on the pepples.

Personally I like the balance of the shot, and I think cropping the top off would throw the image completely out of balance and make it too bottom heavy and claustrophobic. Call me cheesy, but a vignette *might* be a compromise?

I like a vignette, so long as its very subtle.

I also like a vignette and salt with my chips...lol But seriously, would a subtle vignette work here with the top half of the sky being sooooo dark, would it make much of a difference........

I'm with James. Think the shot's great, and has a nice balance. Perhaps there's a little too much reluctance around here to break the rules? It's ok to have dark shadows or blown highlights sometimes!

Great shot Dan. I love the foreground rocks and the leading line of the wall which takes you right into the sunset. I noticed on your EXIF that your exposure time was 1/2 sec. Did you get any with longer exposure times? I'm not sure if a crop would improve the shot. I think it's perfect as it is. :)

James it was taken at West Bay, Dorset,

deena i did have a few with longer exposure but the water just didnt look right, and also i had to go home as the Camera Got a Proper Drenching and stoped working for a bit, Been waiting for ages for the sun to start setting at sea again, im loving these shorter days now, lol,
