I don't do street photography (and I don't do black and white...) but thought I'd push the envelope a little and move out of my comfort zone. I may upload the false colour original too at some point. I don't really know what to make of it though! Any thoughts / comments?

I can't see anything. The foreground is messy with gate and what i think is a shoulder?

Street photography is something that I haven't got into yet but have been thinking about it for some time now so I can't talk from experience but .

The angle of the shot doesn’t do any think for me , I know a lot of people say it adds interest to a shot but I just don't get it .

Totally agree with thefonz about the gate and the what ever it is in the bottom right .

The B & W conversion I think could do with a boost in brightness and contrast but I would like to see the colour version .

The motion blur of the people holds all the interest for me , it really brings the shot to life love it .

It's a good start and it's given me a gee up to get out there and give it a go for myself , so thanks for that .

Its as much an accident and an experiment as anything else. I should say that its >10 second exposure with the camera sitting on a step next to my knee (right) and the angle is simply down to the tripod shoe on the bottom of the camera! It didn't look so dark last night as I was processing it, but really does look dark now! I've obviously not cropped yet.

I too like the motion blur of the people but all in, the photo doesn'thave a point of focus/interest. But keep at it, itsd a great thing to try.

If there's a chance to go back to this location, I would concentrate on the black bollards, maybe a leading line with shallow dof. And also you've got a whole fence full of adverts which could be interesting too. As the photo stands I dont think you can crop anywhere to highlight one particular part. How about a night shot, long exposure, so you get the motion blur of people walking around. If it looks dark, then take a torch and shine it on some interesting features. Just an idea :D

unfortunately it's not my local deena, and it was the Edinburgh Festival, so even when I do go back home to Scotland, its never usually that month, so I suspect I'll not get another opporunity in those circumstances again.

I have got some normal (non-IR) photos of the posters and some more IR I took through the day. Unfortunately because I was there for the fringe and not for the photography, I had to catch everything on the hoof whilst being glowered at by my wife, and using natural objects to rest the camera on (hence the jaunty angle, my knee and the fence to the left).
