Ideas for coastal locations
Hi,
I don't live that close to the coast but I want to start getting into this side of Photography, what are your favourite coastal places to get photos? I live in the cotswolds so anything in the south is realistic. Cheers, Dave |
Now, if you had of said you lived in Northern Ireland I would've said the Antrim Coast straight off because it's amazing, but if your ever over here go for it as you WILL NOT be disappointed and that's a promise!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, not near where you live but the Northumberland coastline, from North East England heading up to Scotland has the most spectacular coastlines in the coutry. They have castles in abundance, both ruins and working castles. We have islands you can visit by boat with spectacular wildlife from birds to seals.

Well, from the Cotswolds you have Cornwall and Devon, the Glamorgan Heritage Coast moving into Pembrokeshire, the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. Further east if you're willing to travel you could try Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven near Seaford and Eastbourne.

If you are in the Cotswolds, I would suggest the following: Glamorgan Heritage Coastline is a must. Dunraven Bay is a nice place that is easily accessible. Watch the tide as Dobbo and I can tell you, it's fast! Kilve: again, watch the tide here. As per Glamorgan it's from the Bristol Channel, so it's fast. The rock formations here are cool. Take good walking boots for this one. Dorset coast: needs no explanation really. Devon and Cornwall. Loads of places. If you look on my gallery, you'll see Dunraven Bay, Crackington Haven and St Michael's Mount. Jools |
I too was going to suggest some venues on this side of the Severn Bridge. As has been said, along the Vale of Glamorgan coast, Nash Point etc. Further along you have the Gower Peninsula and then further west around Tenby and Northern Pembrokeshire.

From personal experience:
Severn Bridge (both, from both banks) Penarth Pier (OK, only as I lived in Penarth!) Nash Point/Lighthouse Southerndown Gower (never call it the Gower unless you want to be known as a foreigner!) South Stack Lighthouse |
Everyone seems to be from Wales here! Again, Wales coastline lots of great spots.

Yup, it's convenient to the OP's location and I only mentioned a few, there are loads more within easy distance of those that have been mentioned so maybe, if he is thinking about a particular area, he can asked for more localised information before he visits. |
