Best for what? It's a bit of an open ended question, so i'll give an appropriate answer: D7000

That's your choice. The D7000 is newer than the D300s, takes SD cards but only one slot whereas, the D300s has two slots one for compact flash one for SD card. The D7000 is a 16.2mp while the D300s is 12.2mp. As the D300s costs more that the D7000 then it's regarded as better all round. As the D300s is a follow-on camera from the D200, which I have, then that is the one I would go for but that is my choice. :D

I traded up from the D80 (which I didn't like very much after my D50) to a D300s, which I love as much as I did the D50. If I hadn't got the D300s, though, I would have gone to the D7000 by now. It does have twin SD card slots.

If it were my choice I would probably go for the D7000 as it has the newer technology.

d300s is rumoured to be replaced in Sept so may be worth holding out for a month.

But then the replacement will be at £1600 or thereabouts for at least the first few months of availability. :(

D5100 is also worth considering its £300 cheaper than the d7000 but has the same image sensor so picture quality is the same. It's £50 cashback on the d5100 with kit lens at the moment. How does this work? Do you have to spend the £50 on Nikon gear?

It does have twin SD card slots.

Sorry, missed that! :o
