Letting Off Steam
 

Thinking of entering this into a photo competition and would appreciate some critique that can help me make improvements before I make my final decision on if to enter it or not. Its just a fun, local competition, entry is £1 and the prize probably £5 or something silly. It's for charity too but, as it's my 1st comp entry I want a decent crack at it!

The theme is a little out my comfort zone, but the photo has to have been taken where the event is being held!!!

nice shot chris... if that sign werent there tho itd be a bit better,

Have to agree with dan123 the sign covers up to much of the engine and drawers your eye away from the main subject , do you have to use this shot or can you re shot ?

It's not just the sign but the steam seems burned of all detail and the saturation is somewhat high - and image needs a slight CCW rotate (look at the shed wall for vertical)

Thanks guys. Don't think I can get there to re-shoot, but if I do, I will get onto the platform in front of the engine to loose the sign.

Yep, I'd agree with the CCW rotation - slightly distracting lean to it at the moment. The sign isn't such a problem for me oddly!
