Can I please have some feedback in this picture I took walking across the fields local to me.

I like it. Very minimalist....... oh wait. Actually it helps if you include the photo Shaun lol ;)

Shaun, am I right in saying this was shot at 1/4000 sec, f/5.6 at ISO 3200, at full zoom??

If so, I'd really recommend you stick to using ISO 200 as much as possible, and only venture above that when the situation absolutely requires it (low light, etc). If you have it as high as ISO 3200 all the time, you'll have a loss of image quality in all your shots. Its easy to forget to reset your ISO, if you've upped it for previous shots the last time you used it. Try and get into the habit of checking your ISO and white balance before shooting, as its really easy to miss when reviewing the images on the cameras LCD screen and will only discover it when transferring them to the computer later.

At full zoom, a lens is generally at its softest. Its also at its softest wide open, which unfortunately you've used. Ideally a lens is at optimum sharpness, a couple of stops down from its widest aperture. In future, try stopping down to f/8-f/11.

Compositionally, I think you could do with a tighter crop. I quite like the flower behind as its almost like a reflection, although the accompanying sticks make it a bit busy in the background.

I like the mirror effect that the backgrounds give your shot , but as well as the soft finish due to your settings I think your focus point was just forward of the main flower .
