What would you want from a nikon Micro four third?

If the rumors are true Nikon and Canon will be bringing out m4/3 cameras out this year. I love my slr but think there is a place for a smaller discrete m4/3 camera.

What would you like from a Nikon m4/3 ?

I would like a retro look like the fuji x100 with a nice fast pancake prime. A prober inbuilt viewfinder And up the ante on iso performance over the olympus and lumix.

Sounds good to me!

Well if the rumours are correct. The mirrorless Nik, will not be 4/3rd! The sensor will most likely be 17mm diagonal – 2.6/2.7 crop! Possibly, in a modified Coolpix P7000 Body would be nice. Apparently Nikon will produce a number of new lenses suitable to match the crop factor of this camera.

Why such a small bloody sensor! It does not make sense. Sony make the sensors for nikon who have just over taken them in sales who have a mirrorless nex on the market with a aps-c sensor twice the size of the nikon rumored sensor. I was really hoping they would have the aps-c sensor in it. Lets hope its going to be a lot cheaper than the rest of them. I doubt it.

Yes, I agree, why introduce a new sensor size at all! Samsung and Sony both use APS-C Sensors in a very compact body! The advantage with Sony is the ability to utilize a large stable of existing Lenses!
The Nikon rumours indicate, that, Nikon will introduce three new lenses for its new format – Wide pancake, a 10-30 (26/78 - 2.6crop) and 7-13 (18.2/33.8 - 2.6crop) Zooms!
So existing Niks would have to invest in new lenses, if they choose to purchase such a camera! If this Camera does materialize, it will have to be brilliant in every way and cost effective too, in order to compete with what is already on the Market – Oly Pen –Lumix – Samsung and Sony NEX.

I have just stumbled on the samsung nx100 today. My dad is after a mirrorless and i told him to google nex he typed nx instead and came up with the nx100. I have not heard about the samsung before its seemed to have fallen under the radar of the Pen, Nex and lumix. It's a lovely looking camera and it has a aps-c sensor which is great. Better still its for sale at an amazing £250 in Jessops! I thought they must have the price wrong its £430 in Currys. This must be the cheapest aps-c camera on the market in the UK at the moment. I told my dad to snap it up before the price goes up. I'm more than tempted to buy one myself. Nikon i love you but this samsung sounds like a winner to me.

Yep, it looks good and with a kit lens too. As I said earlier, Nikon, and posssibly canon will have to produce something brilliant and cost effective to compete! My money is on the Samsung and will likely purchase this week! The Sony NEX looks good too, but, appears out of balance with the existing lenses!

I look forward to seeing some images from it.
