600D External Mic

Hi there - my first post!

I'm looking for an external mic to add to my Canon 600D, having become tired of hearing the lens focus ring being picked up by the internal mic.

Any suggestions for a decent mic below £100 which will do the job?

Thanks

Rode videomic which is a monaural microphone but very well insulated against vibration.

The next one up in price is a stereo version.

A new one to the range has just been introduced called the videomic pro, but I have no idea how it differs from the standard version which is getting on a bit now, but is still an excellent microphone.
See here for a video about the Videomic pro

Another manufacturer to check out is sennheiser, but I don't know which specific model would be best suited for your perusal.

All the best

Rick.

I got a Zoom H1 stereo digital recorder. It has a standard tripod thread on the bottom & with a little hotshoe gizmo fits on top of the camera. It records sound to a memory card or you can use a wire to connect it to the input on the camera to record direct to the camera as well.

Either way, when you create your video you have a high quality digital stereo soundtrack.

I looked at the Rodes above but decided to opt for a microphone/recorder so I can use it standalone to record concerts.
