D7000
Would you buy a Nikon D7000 with Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD £1399.95
or Nikon d7000 with 18-105 vr ,50 f/1.8 and remote £1200 Thanks Derek |
I think I'd be tempted to get the 16-85VR rather than either of your choices. The D7000 can use its improvements over the 18-105, which is not a poor lens by any means. I've never really been convinced by the idea of buying an interchangable lens camera and then sticking a do-it-all lens like the Tamron 18-270 on it. I don't think that lens is good enough for the D7000 which will be capable of showing the lens' flaws quite readily.
For a remote get a wireless version rather than the infra red, as it will allow you to work in normal modes rather than having to switch to the remote mode. No need for a 'timer remote' though as the D7000 has a built-in interval timer. You might waant to hold off the 50mm until you're sure you need it. A longer lens might be more of a priority, or you might find a 24-70 f/2.8 more useful, and fast enough given the D7000's capabilities in low light. Hope this helps Chris ps I guess my answer to your original question is 'probably not'. :) |
What the about 16-85 and one of the telephoto trio - either the 55-200mm , 55-300mm (DX) or 70-300mm?
The 50mm is worth it though - you can still get the non-AFS version for £90 or theres a new AF-S version for £165..... Marcus |

(not in your list I know). The OC is a bit more advanced than Nikon's 70-300VR, and the image quality is right up there. The 55-200 is a cracking lens for the price, but probably not up to the D7000, and the 55-300 is getting a good reputation. I have the Nikon 70-300 VR, and it's mostly great, but the Tamron's stabilisation is (from everything I've read) a bit better. The 50mm is well worth £100 - if you need it. If you don't, it's money that could be better spent elsewhere. Chris |
Don't know much about the 70-300mm OC really was just looking at actual nikon lenses...
I love my 55-200mm on my D90 but i can see why you'd get a higher end lens for a D7000. Marcus |
I have the 70-300mm and it's great.
But if I had to keep just one lens formy D7000, it would be the Sigma 17-70. |
