Backing up Photos
Does anyone or has anyone know any backup software that when you ask it to backup it only backs up your new stuff and not the stuff thats already been backed up ? If you see what I mean.

Most good backup programs will allow you to do incremental backups, so only backing up files that have changed since the last full backup. Check this out: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/software/363118/acronis-true-image-home-2011
I have used Norton's Ghost before so check this out as well. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/software/355660/norton-ghost-15 You also have a backup built-in to Windows: When you use the Back Up Files wizard, Windows keeps track of which files and folders are new or modified. Then, when you make a new backup, you can back up all of the data on your computer or just the files that have changed since the last time you made a backup. If you set up automatic backups, Windows regularly backs up your files and folders so that you don't have to remember to do it. Hope this helps. :D ps Windows 98 use to have a great backup program, which backed up any file that you changed so you could recover almost anything including databases, but due to litigation had to remove it. I recovered DataEase databases after rewritting new code that caused a problem. |
I am assuming you use a PC compatible.
I use microsoft's sync toy which backs up to an external hd, there are various options you can set in my case I get it just to add only new files or update files that have changed. You can get it to remove files that are not present anymore in your main folder if you wish. Originally I used to copy the whole lot but it was getting a tad large and taking over an hour to copy. you can download it form here there are both 64 bit and 32 bit versions available. It is free as well:) |
Thanks guys will take a look.

Hi Mark,
Don't forget to backup your backup every now and again, and store it at a friend or relatives house. Storing it 'off site' will protect your backup from fire, flood and theft, should the worst happen, plus I've known backup drives to fail when I've tried to restore from them. HTH Nick |
Check out Iomega on the web. They have some free backup software which is brilliant in my opinion.
