Your Mission 113: Air shows

This month, your mission is to captura an original and dramatic shot at an air show. There are plenty from which to choose, from the major events such as the Cotswold Air Show (18 to 19 June) and smaller ones (for a complete list visit www.militaryairshows.co.uk).

We're after a shot that captures action, speed and excitement, and that makes us feel as if we're there, surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells that make air shows so exciting to photograph. You don't have to limit yourself to three-quarter images of planes banking across a blue sky: you may prefer to shoot an aircraft taxiing or silhouetted against a setting sun, or you might create something more abstract.

Each month you have the opportunity to win this high-capacity Lowepro camera backpack worth £120 to the lucky winner of our Your Mission challenge.

To enter: Create a gallery on www.photoradar.com, upload your entry and email the link to digitalcamera@futurenet.com with 'Your Mission: air shows' in the subject line by 1 July 2011. The best three shots will be printed in Issue 115, on sale 26 July 2011.

Mmmm. Nice topic but it's a shame that all the events are so far away from me and I suspect a lot of people. Seems to me that it will narrow your entry field down.

Have you looked at the link to see if there are any nearer you?

It's Armed Forces Day in Cardiff on 25th June - there may be something going on there?

Aaah, it's back again this year is it Amy? Thanks for that, I hadn't seen anything advertising it. Enjoyed it last year and I've learned so much from the experience and since.

I did check the link and couldn't see anything that I could get to.

I only found out because a friend of mine is trying to come and stay in Cardiff for the weekend but ALL the hotels seem to be completely full or very very expensive on that day ;-)

For all the South Walians interested, HERE is the agenda for the day. Not a great deal in the way of air display stuff but looks a cracking agenda otherwise.

We were going to go to the RAf Cosford airshow today but am so glad we never! £25 each to get in and we would have been soaked to the skin probably! The rain was non-stop here and the other day we had hailstones!
Apparantly the red arrows cancelled their Welshpool show because of the bad weather.

I have my tickets for RAF Waddington on July 3, fingerd crossed for some decent weather. Pity about the Ist July deadline.

As this photo was taken some time ago I guess I can't enter it. Red Arrows over Humberside Airport.

Hi hsutton,

There's no time frame for when Your Mission photos have been taken... so that one would be perfectly fine :)

Thanks,

Amy
