Hi Kris

Only the author could tell you what work was done to the image in post processing, though I can confirm from the Exif data it was edited using Photoshop CS5

Other exif info includes:

Lens = "EF50mm f/1.4 USM"
Camera Model = Canon EOS 40D
ISO = 100
Aperture = f1.4
Shutter speed = 1/640 second

It would appear the image was taken into the sun, so probably backlit with reflectors to illuminate her back.

Have to agree, the image is very pleasing on the eye.

I had similar thoughts but was helpful to hear someone else say it aswell! Also many thanks for the exif info i hadnt seen that before! :)

And also what metering do you think she used probably??

it's a lovely shot, perfectly lit & nicely processed.

There are loads of downloadable photoshop actions which will reproduce a similar processing style, when you hit on a way to produce something like this it's always worth saving the process as an action so you can reproduce it on other shots.

just had a look at some of the other portraits on that persons portfolio on DeviantArt & she/he definitely likes the muted colour/cross processed look, very nice work.

Again, the author is the only one that can tell you how the scene was metered. However, the camera was set to partial metering and the mode was set full manual. I don't recall seeing any EV compensation. It's possible the author relied on the metering within the camera to set the shot up, then could have compensated settings manually to achieve the shot she wanted, but as I said, only she can tell you that.

Rick.

Try the CoffeeShop Blog and look through all the free Actions - nearly all work in Elements, all work in Photoshop. Read carefully how to install them and how they work.

I think the effect you're after could be the 'Velvet Cream' or 'Golden Vintage'..... but use them sparingly (lower the opacity at the end).

Thanks GeoffWessex for that information! :)
