Studio lighting
Hi all.
I am hoping to start a business in photography. When i was using the studio at college i got pretty good at it, but it's been 3 years, and i haven't been in one since. I think what we used were Bowen lighting. I'm just trying to find out like some really good makes for a decent price and was wondering what people think? oh and what are good specifications etc. i know how to use them, what to do with them, but i dunno what to look out for as i didnt really specialise in studio photography but i would like to include it into everything else i do. I reckon Bowen was pretty good but do people recommend other makes? Thanks Kassy |
depends how much you want to pay.
Generic set from ebay for about £170 full kit incl 2 150W lights, stands, softboxes, umbrellas slightly more expensive but similar kit from Interfit Bowens / Elinchrom from a few hundred up to a grand or more Prophoto for a few grand. Do you want inside use only or portable with battery packs. do you need a set which have built in radio triggers, remote settings capability? You'd need to know your requirements & budget. |
Bowens / Elinchrom by far are some of the best of the world. But you can also consider using some continuous lighting. The continous lighting will be more cheap, and easy to control.

I've gone down the strobist route with yongnuo flashguns and some sofboxes.
