can someone tell me where i can find my shutter count on my 50d because i am selling it.

Hi Mark,

The image number will be in the exif data on your RAW files. If you use Adobe Camera RAW to process your pics, right click on a RAW file and select file info and at the top right of that box you will find a down arrow. Open RAW Data and if you scroll down through that you will find the image number.

Alternatively, if you use Flickr, it is in the exif data there too.

I'm sure that there is an easier way but I'm damned if I can remember it. Mmm, reminds me of another thread. lol

Steve are you sure that works for shutter count, rather than image numbers which reset after 9,999? I understood that Canon don't put the shutter count in the data so you can't retrieve it easily for several cameras.

I just tried this with a couple of 5D MkII RAW files & the Raw data says ImageNumber 0 on them all.

Ah, Thanks Garry. Seems to be about right for my Nikon and thought that it would work the same for Canon.

Have you tried an internet search on Canon camera shutter counts? It suggests using a program called EOS Info. You link your camera via a cable to a computer and run this program and it will tell you.

Mark - if you use flickr make it an unedited jpeg you upload to get the shutter count.

What you getting - a 7D , 5DMk11? Ooh - exciting:)

Mark when I sold my 40D I based it on the last image number I shot and just said it was approximate as I had never reset it, not sure if the images increment if you shoot without a card though but never did that very often. For example my last shot on my 7D had the filename of IMG_8332 so I would say that was approximatly 8332 shutter actuations.

Shutter actuations count including when there's no memory card in, and also when doing a sensor clean. And if you go over 10k shots then the image count number will have rest so you get a very inaccurate figure using that information.
