You have a very distinctive style and seem to be doing well with kids (they seem completely at ease in your shots). I'm pretty sure you could live of that kind of portraits without problems. I think a lack of comments is due to three things:

1. There's so many galleries already, but only few people actually looking at other people galleries as the search functions are still not working properly.
2. Even if you do comment on other people's galleries they might not notice it. I'm not sure if there are supposed to be notifications, but I know that I did not receive one. So you actually have to check and see if someone left something.
3. Even if it'd be nice if everyone you commented on would go and check out your gallery, that's not a given.

I'd suggest to try to become part of the community. Most people on the old forum who had many comments in their galleries were regular posters, participants of the weekly contest, and generally helpful people. Once you get known and get to know others you'll have a network of people that you comment on and who comment on you. It's not something that happens overnight, especially on a forum as new as this one.

And why not post the picture you're most proud of in the Post your Portraits thread. That way people who actually do the same as you can take a look at your work and you can take a look at theirs :)
